Public Comment Opportunities

Mecklenburg County Air Quality (MCAQ) notifies the public of opportunities to provide public comment during monthly Air Quality Commission (AQC) meetings, in the Charlotte Observer legal classifieds section, and/or on this website. Sign up to receive public comment opportunities by email.

Proposed Air Quality Permits

MCAQ values community input during the permitting process. The public is invited to review and provide comment on the draft air quality permits below.  Each draft permit has undergone a thorough review (see the Application Review Summary) and incorporates the necessary pollution controls, monitoring, testing, record keeping and reporting requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.

Comments that accurately and specifically address a concern about the draft permit are most effective. Public comments can impact permit conditions, making for a more comprehensive and complete compliance document.

Mecklenburg County Air Quality will consider all comments received on or before the Public Comment Deadline.
