Vehicles and Equipment

Programs to minimize air pollution from tailpipes.

Mobile Sources are #1 source of local air pollution. Mecklenburg County Air Quality promotes voluntary and incentive-based programs to minimize air pollution from mobile sources like motor vehicles and off-road equipment.

  • Mowing your lawn for one hour with a gasoline-powered mower generates the same amount of pollution as driving your car for 4 hours!

  • Grants to Replace Aging Diesel Engines (GRADE) is an air quality improvement program designed to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx)

  • Unnecessary idling wastes fuel, costs money, and pollutes the air! Get help creating an idle reduction plan and apply it.
