Mecklenburg County Air Pollution Control Ordinance (MCAPCO)
A printed copy of MCAPCO can be obtained from Mecklenburg County Air Quality for a charge of $10 if picked up or $15 if mailed.
A new version of MCAPCO was adopted on March 6, 2024, that includes changes to Title V permitting procedures, nitrogen oxide control requirements, and a sulfur dioxide emission standard. The revised regulation can be accessed below.

North Carolina Air Quality Planning - Rules & Regulations
Under the Clean Air Act (CAA), EPA sets limits on certain air pollutants, including setting limits on how much can be in the air anywhere in the United States. The Clean Air Act also gives EPA the authority to limit emissions of air pollutants coming from sources like chemical plants, utilities, and steel mills.
Title 40 is the section of the CFR that deals with EPA's mission of protecting human health and the environment.
